A perfectly good shirt sacrificed in the name of art. And champagne. Several people wanted my original “Ring for Champagne” painting, so I’m creating a small collection of new versions, each will be a little different. You may recognise my river friends, who often inspire my work. I’ve decided this one’s Grace. ( well maybe not today) For my September challenge, I made 30 paintings, each inspired by three prompts 30 people gave me. This one was FAMILY, RAINBOW and ORANGE. The swans outside my atelier window often inspire my paintings, but the rainbow brought another river to mind. I loved walking beside the Swan River when I lived in Perth( Western Australia). In aboriginal mythology it’s told the river was created by the Rainbow Serpent. A little connection between my life in Australia and the view outside my window here in Switzerland. Stay for the flourish at the end. Someone’s determined to remain the centre of attention.

A little holiday unwinding, with new pencils and a quick sketch on the beach. I don’t use pencils much these days, although they were my favourites as a child. I bought this gorgeous Caran d’Ache set with different coloured ends which are water-soluble pencils. I couldn’t wait to have a play. Not affiliated with Caran d’Ache. Just easily seduced by a gorgeous set of pencils.

I let other people decide what I’d paint. This is what happens. The prompts? Monkey, funny and gold. 🐒✨ I asked people for an object, a word and a colour, then turned 30 different combinations into 30 paintings in September. Not much time to overthink it. Definitely no time to stuff around.

Well, nobody said it had to be a canvas… So… there was one little twist to my 30 paintings in 30 days challenge. I had 31 prompts. Rather than leave one out, I decided to put a spin on the last one. The prompt was apron, pink + ocean. So instead of painting an apron… I painted THE apron. Complete with a little fabric collage of fish. 31 prompts officially done. Now I really am finished.

30 paintings. 30 prompts. 30 days. I did it. 30 different prompts from 30 different people, and somehow I managed to turn every single one into a painting. I’m exhausted, my studio looks like a small explosion has taken place, but I’m pretty damn proud of myself. Thank you to everyone who threw a prompt into the mix. Some made me laugh, some made me think, and a few had me wondering what on earth I’d gotten myself into. 🤣 But here they are. All 30! I’ll be sharing more of the finished paintings and their prompts over the next few days. For tonight though… I’m DONE 🥂

Two days left of my September challenge and I think my brain has finished before I have. There’s stuff everywhere, empty coffee cups. Multitudes of colourful canvases lining up. Im running almost entirely on determination at this point. So tonight… no fancy reel. Just proof that I’m still here and still painting. Two days to go. I can do this. Then I may sleep for a week.

Turns out 30 paintings sounded much easier in August. But I’m getting there. This one: peace, flower + blue. So what happens when you give me Flamingo • Coral • Sweet? Here’s my take on them… complete with a little hidden recipe for White Fruit Cake that serves two. Aww that so sweet!! I’ve been a little quiet with the challenge updates, but definitely not with the paintbrush. Nearly 16 paintings are now finished, a bit over half way . Jeez still a lot to do ! I’m a bit behind on showing you what I’ve been up to, so there’s a small avalanche of reveals coming. This one? Monkey + funny + gold. I think he understood the assignment.

About time these made it onto the wall! 10 of my September challenge paintings are now hanging together and I LOVE seeing them like this. Plus it gives me some much needed space for the next batch. Considering every painting started with three completely random prompts, they’re turning into a rather fabulous little collection. Are they all perfectly level? Let’s not ruin the moment with unnecessary questions.

Whew… 7 finished! It’s Day 11, so technically I’m a little behind, but I can live with that. If you’re new here, each painting starts with three random prompts that were sent in by you and I have to somehow turn them into one piece of art. Here’s a quick flick through the finished ones so far, with their prompts. Some I love, some surprised me, and a couple definitely made me work for it. I’ll show you each one properly over the next few days, but for now, seven down!

Day 8 and this is where we’re at. Four are finished (I think ), four more are getting very close and what day is it ..?? I’m slightly behind where I thought I’d be. The plan was to keep them simpler but your prompts inspired all these details. Hopefully another four finished tomorrow 🤞 Any favourites starting to emerge?

Well, that’s a wrap on Swiss Art Expo 2026 A big thank you to everyone who popped by, said hello, sent me a message or followed along from afar. Five of my paintings got a little trip to Zürich, I got to see a LOT of art, meet some interesting people… and now they’re all coming home with me again 😂 All part of the adventure, I reckon. Back to the atelier and the rather chaotic collection currently taking over my tables.

It’s been a week… and now THIS. I had strategically painted over star stickers and I was excited to see the results. A simple task - a) Peel them off b) Reveal perfect little stars. Easy. Except apparently I’d glued them on for eternity. I perhaps covered them with too many layers of paint or they were too sticky to start with. Obviously did not test them in advance. And yes… I did eventually get the bloody things off.

Some are behaving better than others… A few of these paintings are finally starting to reveal themselves although I’m definitely not convinced by a couple of the backgrounds yet. That’s tomorrow’s problem. Today I bounced between a couple of different canvases. ( mig the ones that really needed attention). Played with my Caran d’Ache crayons - highly recommend. And I think you might actually be able to work out some of the prompts now… Neurospicy • purple • paintbrush Puffin • pink • peace Sunflower • yellow • travel Three very different combinations, which is exactly what’s making this challenge interesting. Still plenty of layers, changes of mind and probably a few cover-ups to come…

Well, this seemed like a good idea three days ago… I definitely had my thinking cap on today. A blocked spray can didn’t help 🙄 but the bigger challenge is starting to show itself. I’ve got all these completely different prompts, ideas and pieces happening at once, and Im@paintk’g them together . Not as easy as it sounded when I came up with this challenge . But things are starting to take shape… and I’m rather curious myself to see where they end up.

It’s getting messier… which is usually a good sign. A bit of neon pink paint, some dried leaves, spray paint, ink everywhere… and apparently I really do have green fingers after all. I’m still working across several canvases at once, adding layers and trying different things and seeing where they take me, which is such a fun way to work. And yes, my filming skills may need a little work. The painting part I’ve got covered. . The challenge continues…

Day 2 of my September art challenge took a slight detour… No paintbrush in my hand today, I was in Zurich hanging five of my paintings for @swissartexpo .If your in the Zurich Bahnhof in the next few days pop by and check out all the incredible art . Thanks to my friend Christa for helping me get things level. 😝 The challenge canvases are all sitting back in the atelier waiting for me, but this is also part of life as an artist, sometimes the making has to make way for getting the work out into the world. And tomorrow… back to the mess. 😜. I’ll reveal some of the prompts I’m working with then too. My phone created its own disco lighting ??? I’m too tired to care 😂🤩🩷.

Day 1… and there are already 8 canvases on the go. If you’re new here - last month I asked you to give me a colour, a word and an object. I ended up with 31 completely different combinations, and I’ve challenged myself to turn every one of them into a painting during September. You might have thought I was going to paint one picture from start to finish each day…. nope ! I tend to work on several at once, especially with mixed media. There’s always something drying, or another idea I want to get started on. So today was mostly planning. Sketching and getting those first layers down. Not a lot to see just yet… but plenty happening. Tomorrow I’ll show you which prompts I’ve started with. On@with the show

I may have bitten off more than I can chew… September is almost here and I’m getting ready for my painting challenge. For my birthday giveaway, I asked you to send me three prompts: a colour, a word and an object. I loved the combinations so much that instead of using just the winning one, I decided to paint them ALL. So throughout September, I’ll be turning your weird & wonderful and combinations into small original paintings. The canvases have arrived. I’m attempting to get vaguely organised before the madness begins. Some prompts clicked instantly. Others have had me staring into space wondering what on earth I was thinking when I decided this was a good idea. It starts September 1st. Let’s see what happens…

A painting about balance nearly tipped me over the edge. Equilibrium is about the space between extremes, where energy flows freely and life finds its rhythm. In a world of constant highs and lows, true peace doesn’t come from resisting either side, but from embracing the balance that holds them together. At the centre is a circle divided into equal segments. I needed to divide it precisely and, being absolutely hopeless at maths, couldn’t work out the formula. So out came the tape measure, and I worked my way around the whole thing manually. It took a while. Not the most efficient method, but we got there. My slightly crazy process became part of the story too. Equilibrium is at @flowartspacebasel in Basel this weekend.

I knew I was forgetful, but this is ridiculous… I painted Sovereign of the Sea over a year ago and somehow completely forgot to share the finished painting here. This one was inspired by my brother. Growing up in Australia, our holidays were always spent at the beach. We spent hours in and on the ocean. He’s always loved the sea and fish , with his wild beard, there’s definitely a bit of Poseidon about him too. So naturally, I turned him into the god of the sea. 🤣 And now Sovereign of the Sea is finally getting his moment. Next week he’s heading to Zurich as one of five of my paintings showing at @swissartexpo . Probably about time I introduced him!

You gave me all those brilliant prompts… so it seems a shame to waste them! So, starting in September, I’m going to work my way through all of them and see what happens. I have no idea exactly where this is going yet, but that’s kind of the point. Different prompts, different artworks and I’m sure a surprises along the way. And yes, the finished pieces will be for sale …..but first I have to make them! If you sent me a prompt, keep an eye out. It’s going to be fun.

Well, here she is! Red. Boots. Rucksack. Three prompts that took me somewhere I wasn’t quite expecting… I found that recipe in an old book. Juanita. Almost exactly the name of the lovely lady whose prompts I chose. Coincidence? Probably. Serendipity? I’m going with that. 😂 And here’s what those three little prompts became…

The ugly stage! It’s a real thing, and very much part of my creative process. Sometimes it lasts a few hours. Sometimes I turn up at the studio the next morning, look at what I’ve done and think… Mmmmm. Not sure I like this. But I ignore (well, kind of) that little voice and carry on. This is a process shot from the painting inspired by the prompts I chose from my birthday giveaway and I’ve actually finished it now. I can’t wait to show you how it turned out!

Sometimes you have to stop and smell the flowers… even if they’re painted. This bouquet has now found its forever home, once I have lacquered and framed it ! I love knowing it will be part of someone’s everyday life.

One of the perks of living here? Inspiration is literally on my doorstep. Eternal Flow is woven together from little pieces of my daily view. The flowing water inspired by the Aare, the two swans are regulars I see almost every day, and if you look closely, you’ll even spot an abstract nod to the Aarburg across the river. I love taking familiar places and letting them become something a little unexpected on the canvas. P.S. If you hear breathing in the background… don’t worry, it wasn’t me! 😄 Someone was swimming across the Aare and accidentally became part of the soundtrack. Most paintings begin long before the first brushstroke. They begin when unrelated moments start a conversation.. I was just trying to enjoy the view… much for switching off.

I’ve realised that changing the surface changed my mindset. Lately I’ve been painting on paper. I thought I was just experimenting with a different background. What I didn’t expect was how much freedom it would give me. I’m not sure whether this is a new direction or simply a detour, but I’m enjoying seeing where curiosity takes me. This piece fought me a little (the background had plenty of previous lives!), but I’m learning that those twists are often where the interesting things happen. Do you ever surprise yourself when you let go of the plan?

Yay! We can finally share photos on each other’s timelines! So I thought this would be the perfect excuse to start something new… ✨ The Art of Noticing Finding beauty in unexpected places. I’m forever discovering quirky, beautiful and unexpected things that make me smile. This gentleman was today’s favorite! Each week I’ll share something that caught my eye, and I’d love you to do the same. I was just about to hammer these two into their recycled frame…. After a lovely week away with friends (and a much-needed mind break), now I’m back in the studio. I was silently cursing at the fiddly little nails for a frame I had painted for these little cuties… who, by the way, still don’t have names! Then it dawned on me… they’re on paper, which means they’re actually easy to post. If they have already stolen your heart, send me a DM for the details before they get nailed down.

When you spend so much time with your paintings, eventually you start dressing alike. Totally unplanned… but here we are. Spotted at @artboxyofficial Basel with Alpine Goatee.

This paper has been months in the making. Whenever I had paint left on my palette, it ended up here. Layer upon layer, the surface slowly built its own patterns. Feeling some resistance in the studio, I decided to play rather than push. Two birds emerged from the chaos. Maybe they’re the start of something new? What emerges when you give yourself permission to play?

I was excited to paint horses as we stepped into the Year of the Horse and a new phase. Full of optimism, I began this painting convinced that good things were on the horizon. What followed was a period that tested many of us. Plans shifted, uncertainty crept in, and the road ahead felt far less predictable than expected. At times I felt knee-deep in manure, drained of creative energy and wondering what had happened to all those good things that were supposed to be just around the corner. Somewhere along the way this painting took on a new meaning. We don’t have the luxury of looking into a crystal ball to see what the future holds. We can make plans, dream big and set our course, but some things remain beyond our knowing. What carries us through are the people around us. The ones who remind us who we are, help us find our footing again, and encourage us to keep moving forward when the path isn’t clear. The future may be unknown, but the road is rarely travelled alone. Beyond the Known

Not everyone was made to blend quietly into the background. Made a mess… love it!! This actually started as a fun way to use up leftover paint. Bit of a play, no big plan… just seeing what would happen. I collaged the pages onto canvas and they became the inspiration for this piece. I chose it as one of my five paintings for the Square Foot Show… which I’m a very excited about. The paintings were easy. The frames were not. I shared these little swan paintings the other day… and then came the frame hunt Not as easy as it sounds. I found some, but they were plain silver and just not it. So I painted them, added a bit of stencil detail and viola! I love them now, they have a vintage romantic vibe and feel like they are part of the art. They’re small (22 x 17 cm) but they still pop. Swanning around this afternoon… and somehow ended up painting very tiny things. I usually go big, so this felt like a bit of a challenge (and yes… tiny is harder than it looks). All inspired by what’s been happening right outside my studio window. Now I’m thinking fun, slightly unexpected frames… maybe even painting them. Yesterday the swans were putting on quite a show on the river near my studio. They pass by fairly often and I always end up stopping to watch for a minute ( any excuse for a break). They look so peaceful and elegant drifting along but there’s definitely some attitude under those feathers. Somewhere along the way they found their way into the studio. Eternal Flow grew from gazing out the window, an abstract backdrop inspired by the neighborhood and my feathered friends regularly showing off. Last week my friend Porsha @thesilverbohemian who lives in the USA told me Good Fortune was her favourite painting so far. This week she’s on a curator trip with @theturquoiseirisjournal and sent me something that gave me goose bumps Swipe to see it. 🎠 I was meant to be on that trip too, but I was unable to fly. Staying home wasn’t easy. Then this carousel horse appeared, almost a twin to the one I painted. And after seeing it, they said it felt like I was there with them. He was floating again. Kamal the Third. I wasn’t very good at keeping the fish alive. It was the 80s, fish bowls on dressers, big shoulders, even bigger hair. We didn’t know better-we just knew more. More volume. More drama. More hairspray. Turns out that was the real killer. A fine, invisible film settling on the water , courtesy of my hairstyle. It’s ironic how beauty routines had unintended casualties. If the fish were floating, I do wonder what all that spray was doing to us… mmm? I should be so lucky … la la

She’s got a secret… shhh Mermaids have always carried that playful, irresistible energy. A little mischievous, a little wild, and absolutely aware of their power. This artwork captures that spirit through vibrant colour, fluid movement, and a sense of light-hearted mystery. Fantasy meets modern whimsy, created to spark imagination and bring a touch of mischief to any space. And yes -I may know a thing or two about mermaids. One of my most legendary dress-up moments involved a tail, confidence, and prosecco. Graceful? Debatable. Memorable? Absolutely

I love painting the sea, summer, and all the colours but sometimes I feel conflicted. I live in a landlocked country, surrounded by the Alps, nothing like the coasts I grew up with. And yet… making a splash.

It was school summer holidays and we were at the beach. I was feeling rather cool standing in the middle of our tin dinghy, ready to push the throttle as dad had instructed. He was in the water holding the boat after taking it off the trailer. „Ok , go now he said “ getting ready to hop over as I slowly moved forward . Full throttle !!! Whoops , the dingy lunged forward, while dad disappeared under the take-off wave . Just a split second - to feel shock and panic , then the giggles. ( nervous laughter) . Everyone was fine, he resurfaced laughing. Confidence and coordination are not the same thing . New art work, just a slice of the scene .

You know that drawer. The one that won’t open unless you give it a good pull and have to close it with your feet, because it’s absolutely crammed with the things you couldn’t quite throw away. I’ve been opening mine lately. Not to tidy it.( who am I kidding ) Not to organise it. But to look and listen. All those bits and bobs have inspired a workshop . January tends to spin faster than I’d like. So I slowed it down and repurposed two old globes. Potentially looking at holiday destinations. Anyone got plans ? Curious what comes next , more globes? ?

Inner Sanctuary : a modern Venus within a shell, embodying feminine strength, self-protection and inner power. Venus makes me think of two things: women adventuring boldly with Venus Adventures - my good friend’s company and that anthem I can’t get out of my head: “I’m your Venus, I’m your fire…” Inner sanctuary isn’t a place. Sneak peek - Here is number #2 ( you voted ) from my Echos of the Ocean Collection ! ( got side tracked with. All that festive stuff ) I’m actually wearing a beanie because it’s freezing and I’m day-dreaming of summer. I love long beach walks, hunting for shells (slightly illegal now? 😅), sea glass and driftwood. I even have a little Oceania collection somewhere… which might just turn into a project or for my upcoming workshop. Two big shells from my childhood beachcombing ended up back in Switzerland with me. When I hold them I’m transported back. Cold hands , warm memories, ocean dreams .

Every year I choose a word. Last year it was Dynamic and wow, I lived that one. For 2026, I’m choosing Magnetic. I’ve done the work (and yes, there’s always more), laid the foundations, shown up consistently. Now I’m letting my creations speak, my voice carry…….and seeing what happens when I stop pushing and start attracting. Momentum without burnout. Freedom with substance. Grounded, with room to grow. The jelly fish has a deep spiritual meaning surprisingly. It’s not just something you throw at your brother (a summer holiday memory from long ago ) It symbolizes resilience, flow and trust in the universe. As we drift into the new year a little reminder to go with the flow and adapt to whatever the year throws your way .Even if it gets a bit wobbly!!

THE YEAR I SAID YES This year was movement. Heat. Trains. Deadlines. Firsts. A little madness I built a portfolio. Then a website (with a bit of tech help and hair pulling) I melted in 49° visiting family in Oz. Designed and held my own exhibition. Stepped into curating with Turquoise Iris Journal. Sold my first $$$ original on canvas (that one changed me). Taught upcycling in Zurich. Painted postcards at the Kursaal casino. Entered my first digital exhibition and danced at the artist party. Created prints. Finally turned the switch ON so you can buy them. Angels became mini prints and cards - dedicated to women with breast cancer. Alsace with Chéri & family. Trier by train for a Annie Sloan stockist event . Venice by train for my first international exhibition -pinch me moment !! Madly finishing work with “how many hours left??? I didn’t play small this year. I travelled. I showed up. I said yes. 👉 swipe for the ride
